GRAMMY Awards: Vote Now for Best Alternative Music Album

GRAMMY Awards: Vote Now for Best Alternative Music Album

The 2018 Grammy Awards land in New York City on Sunday, and the evening's most compelling storylines have already emerged. While the band received an Album of the Year GRAMMY in 2010 for The Suburbs, we'll have to wait and see whether Everything Now was worth the hype at this year's GRAMMY Awards.

No matter who takes home the Grammy for album of the year on Sunday, we know for sure that it won't be a white male artist. The rapper has reportedly been nominated for eight awards, including Album of the Year. But the danger of vote-splitting between Jay-Z and Lamar means that the Grammy may go to one of the category's more pop-oriented artists.

It's been that many years since she made her debuted as a Barbados-born newcomer who signed with Jay-Z's stable of recording artists.

Other potential posthumous winners include Leonard Cohen, nominated for best American roots performance for Steer Your Way or best rock performance for You Want it Darker; and Chris Cornell, whose The Promise is up for best rock performance category. And then, there's Childish Gambino's psych-R&B of Awaken, My Love, which exists in the category as an intriguing spoiler. With so many strong contenders, it's hard to say who the winners will be January 28.

"The reality is that it's a major undertaking in many respects", Portnow told Billboard.

"This is the biggest night in music returning to the musical capital of the world and that feels really good", said de Blasio, whose office estimates this week of activities will generate $200 million in revenue. This comes four months after she beats Beyonce at the MTV Video Music Awards, where her acceptance speech is interrupted by Kanye West's infamous "imma let you finish" moment. Swift is also nominated for best song written for visual media for "I Don't Wanna Live Forever", her collaboration with Zayn from the "Fifty Shades Darker" soundtrack.

Krauss won her first Grammy in 1990 for Best Bluegrass Recording for the song "I've Got That Old Feeling".

Its charts domination aside, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's runaway hit isn't the obvious choice to win song of the year. "Just something different just needs to win".

Mars will face off in the record of the year category with Gambino's "Redbone", Lamar's "Humble", and Jay-Z's "The Story of O.J". 24K Magic is similarly crowd pleasing.

There are reportedly conflicting perceptions over several matters, including categories of sponsorships. That may tip the scales in Despacito's favor, which was America's No. 1 single for much of 2017.

Losing in every category, reportedly she was regarded as being snubbed by the National Academy of Recording and Sciences.

The Grammys' choices for nominees are also receiving attention because of the controversies surrounding the Grammys and its lack of diversity in previous years.

1976 After 18 years, Natalie Cole becomes the first black performer to win Best New Artist.
