Timeline of events in the Bruce McArthur case

Toronto police have charged 66-year-old landscaper Bruce McArthur with five counts of first-degree murder, calling him an alleged serial killer.

The police are asking people in the Toronto area who have had landscaping work done by McArthur to come forward so police can search their yards.

Vice reported that the latest cases bear a striking resemblance to the disappearance of three men from the village between 2010 and 2012.

Forensic experts have yet to identify the remains, Idsinga said. He's an alleged serial killer and he's taken some steps to cover his tracks'.

The fresh charges related to the deaths of Majeed Kayhan, 58, Soroush Marmudi, 50, and Dean Lisowick, 47.

Lisowick, who stayed in shelters in Toronto, was never reported missing, but police believe he was murdered between May 2016 and July 2017.

Mahmudi and Lisowick did not fit the profile of some of the other men who were reported missing - Middle Eastern men known to frequent Toronto's gay village area.

"It encompasses more than the gay community". They said they were planning to excavate at two locations "where people might be buried", but said they did not know what, if anything, they might find.

"We do believe there are more, and I have no idea how many more there are going to be", Idsinga said.

Esen, 44, went missing last April and Kinsman, 49, disappeared in June.

'We have seized quite a few planters from around the city and we will continue to do that, ' said Idsinga.

Police are searching properties throughout Toronto for more victims in a probe that has expanded far beyond the LGBT community.

"No evidence was found which would classify anyone as a suspect in any criminal offence relating to the disappearances", Idsinga said of that investigation Monday.

Amid fears over the summer that police weren't taking these cases seriously, Richmond said the investigation into Kinsman's disappearance was in the process of "ramping up", and police were getting set to conduct another search of his apartment.

Toronto has never seen anything like this.

Police have interviewed McArthur, whom they said became a person of interest last September, but refused to comment on what he might have told them.

He urged any of McArthur's customers to contact police, saying that officers have access to McArthur's client list and were working through it.
