Trump to announce 'fake news' awards

Trump to announce 'fake news' awards

A USA television show has *submitted* its nomination for Donald Trump's "Dishonest And Corrupt Media Awards" with a hilarious fake advert campaign.

It's an obvious stunt, a finger in the media's collective eye, and the president's fans will love it.

Colbert's entry, styled like a movie poster, enters all "categories" including "fakest dishonesty", "corruptest fakeness", and "smallest button", in reference to Trump's Tuesday tweet that his "nuclear button" is bigger and more powerful than North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's.

The commander-in-chief tweeted last week they'd be given out Monday and "cover Dishonesty & Bad Reporting in various categories from the Fake News Media".

But will the stories that are recognized be "fake" or just unfavorable to the White House?

Noah, however, has some stiff competition as Stephen Colbert of CBS's The Late Show also launched an ad campaign to bag one of the so-called #Fakies. The show bought a Times Square billboard and took out an ad on Twitter to court the president's attention. These include "Outstanding Achievement In Parroting George Soros' Talking Points" and "Least Breitbarty".

Bannon apologized on Sunday for not responding sooner, calling Donald Trump Jr.

After the advert was released, The Daily Show's official Twitter account poked fun at Trump's literacy, saying: "Hey @realDonaldTrump, show them you're not semiliterate!"

I don't think this wins the president a single vote or advances his agenda a single inch.

Directing his words to Trump, he added: "Personally, I'm excited for your Dishonest & Corrupt Media Awards".
