Wenger Gets Three-Match Touchline Ban, Fined £40000 For Criticising Referee Decisions

Wenger Gets Three-Match Touchline Ban, Fined £40000 For Criticising Referee Decisions

BREAKING: Arsene Wenger to serve three-match touchline ban after admitting FA misconduct charge following Arsenal's game at West Brom on New Year's Eve.

Wenger was furious with referee Mike Dean after he awarded the Baggies a late penalty for a handball by Calum Chambers.

In a separate case, Wenger has been asked to respond to the FA about comments he made about refereeing decisions both before and after Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Chelsea in the league.

Wenger admitted using abusive and improper language towards the match officials and questioned the integrity of the referee following the clash last Sunday.

A £40,000 fine is also part of the punishment. Arsenal were on the end of another controversial penalty decision, this time from referee Anthony Taylor, and with the governing body already requesting that he explain his comments in relation to that fixture, he could face more time away from the touchline.

Arsenal's next three matches are against Nottingham Forest (FA Cup), Chelsea (Carabao Cup) and Bournemouth (Premier League). "I maintain what I said in the press conference, 100%. I have nothing to change in that", the Gunners boss said. On that front, nothing will change.

"I respect everyone's opinion".

"Imagine, I am 21 years in the game and what I've seen and heard in corridors - I'm surprised and shocked to be charged".

Regarding the penalty awarded for Héctor Bellerín's challenge on Hazard, he said: "I think it was a yellow card for Hazard".

Wenger suggested before the match that supposed poor calls made in games against Stoke City, Watford, Manchester City and West Brom represented a "concerning coincidence" and claimed that Dean "saw what he wanted to see". "I have the right to have an opinion".
