Wynn resigns as RNC finance chair amid reports of sexual misconduct

Casino mogul Steve Wynn has resigned as Republican National Committee finance chairman. He also thanked U.S. President Donald Trump for the job.

According to the report, "D$3 ozens of people The Wall Street Journal interviewed who have worked at Mr. Wynn's casinos told of behavior that cumulatively would amount to a decades-long pattern of sexual misconduct by Mr. Wynn. I was going to call upon him to step down", she said.

Stock in Wynn Resorts dropped about 10 percent Friday after news of the accusations broke.

"The Board is deeply committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all of the Company's employees and to operating with the highest ethical standards", the statement read.

"I believe it was the Wall Street Journal story that pointed out recently, from an FCC filing, from Wynn Casinos, the company, stating that if there were a change in Mr. Wynn's leadership capacity ability to be involved with the company, it would be a serious hit to the company".

The Journal said it spoke to about 150 employees, many of whom were anxious that Wynn wields so much power in Las Vegas and the casino business that he could hurt their chances of being employed elsewhere.

The other regulatory body, the Nevada Gaming Control Board, "is aware of the situation and we're reviewing the information", said board chairman Becky Harris.

And the MA gaming commission is launching a review of Wynn Resorts' State Gaming license.

"Today I accepted Steve Wynn's resignation as Republican National Committee Finance Chair", RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel said in a statement shared with BuzzFeed News.

The unbelievable success we have achieved must continue, he said.

President Trump spoke to McDaniel about Wynn's future aboard Air Force One while returning from the World Economic Forum in Switzerland on Friday, and he was apprised of the final decision before it was announced publicly on Saturday, according to sources with direct knowledge of the conversation.

Former employees said their awareness of Wynn's power, combined with the knowledge that they had some of the best-paying jobs in Las Vegas added up to a feeling of dependence and intimidation when he made requests, the WSJ reported. (Weinstein gave $300,000 to the DNC.) Wynn also helped raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Sen.

According to the Federal Election Commission, he personally contributed more than $600,000.

The RNC has not commented on the allegations.

Associates of Anthony Scaramucci, a NY financier who briefly served as White House communications director before he was removed mid-turmoil, did the same, as did allies of other financial and political players, per multiple people involved in discussions ahead of the RNC meeting.

The RNC also released a list of Weinstein's donations to Democrats, including about $250,000 to the Democratic National Committee and thousands of dollars to Democratic senators.
