Brockton: Mother Charged with Murder of Her Two Sons

Brockton: Mother Charged with Murder of Her Two Sons

"This is a gruesome, disturbing and most of all a heartbreaking crime", said Cruz.

Some family members loudly wept as a prosecutor described the death of the boys during Sanderson's arraignment in Brockton District Court where she is charged with two counts of murder for the deaths of the boys.

She told police it had to do with "Voodoo stuff", according to a police report of their interview with her.

An animal control officer was later seen removing a single cat from the third floor apartment.

Plymouth Assistant District Attorney Jessica Kenny said that Sanders originally blamed her 16-year-old daughter and the teenager's father for the murders, but then eventually told authorities how she allegedly killed the them. Cruz said. "All crime scenes are grisly".

The victims, both boys, were ages 5 and 8, according to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz. "They don't really have company".

Neighbor Ernst Blanc told the newspaper that he regularly saw two young children playing in the yard behind his house, frequently throwing a ball, playing tag and riding bikes.

"I heard the news and it just broke my heart", she told the Boston Globe. "When something as tragic as this occurs, we're all left wondering how, why could this happen".

The boys' bodies were discovered in their Brockton apartment on Monday after Sanders asked a neighbor to call 911 because she was having a medical issue.

Cruz said their mother "made statements that can be construed as admissions to this crime to the investigators".

Investigators said Monday that the killings took place within the past few days and they are trying to figure out a motive.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Children and Families declined to comment on whether the agency had a history with Sanders, citing privacy concerns.
