IOS bug that displays Indian character can crash iPhones

On its website, updates are titled iOS 11.2.6, watchOS 4.2.3, tvOS 11.2.6, and High Sierra 10.13.3 Supplemental Update.

To apply the update, you need to be on a device already running iOS 11.

As soon as the character shows up, whether typed or received as part of a text, applications crash and can even freeze an iPhone's springboard, possibly sending it in a bootloop. The bug affected any app that can display characters, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Messages.

As per the official iOS changelog, the iOS 11.2.6 update fixes the bug issue that all users were facing over the last few days.

APPLE has finally released a fix for a notorious iPhone bug that lets anyone crash your smartphone.

Now Apple has rushed out a new software update to fix the bug. The coding error first appeared in iOS 11.2.5, released in January 2018, and prior versions of the operating system are unaffected. And in January, a "chaiOS" bug emerged that caused some devices to crash and reboot after users clicked a certain link.

iOS 11.2.6 is the eleventh update to the iOS 11.

The update, which weighs in at 41MB, also fixes an issue where some third-party apps failed to connect to external accessories. Apple also released fixes for Mac computers and the Apple Watch.

The bug affects iPhone owners who are sent a specific character from the south Indian language Telugu, which blocks access to popular apps such as Messages and WhatsApp, The Verge reports. The company said that the update resolved the memory corruption issue "through improved input validation". Once inside the General settings options, they should tap Software Update so the device could start downloading the latest update.
