MHA seeks report on Delhi chief secretary's assault

The Delhi Administrative Services Association, on the other hand, had convened a meeting to resolve on the future course of action. He has been named in the FIR filed in the alleged assault case.

Singh also said that members of the association would go to office but won't work till action is taken against those who assaulted the bureaucrat.

Delhi Chief Secretary said he was attacked in the presence of Arvind Kejriwal after being summoned for discussions on the government's plan to deliver key services to citizens' doorsteps.

But two AAP lawmakers, including controversial politician Amanatullah Khan, allegedly abused and manhandled him in front of the CM. The officers' bodies called the incident a "breakdown of governance" in the national capital. MHA has sought a report on the incident from the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.

In his complaint, the chief secretary alleged that the assault on him at the camp office situated at the chief minister's residence in North Delhi's Flag Staff Road last night was "premeditated" and a conspiracy of all those who were present at a meeting there. "Investigation has begun", Delhi Police Spokesperson Deependra Pathak said. While former AAP leader Kapil Mishra tried to get public attention towards by the reports by tweeting "What happened at 12 last night at Kejriwal House?", Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken has said that he would address a press conference on the issue on Tuesday.

Discussions were already on and the meeting was called to resolve it, Saxena said. Violence against anyone, including a senior bureaucrat, is not the way to resolve anything. "If the chief secretary's complaint is found to be true, the MLAs should receive tough punishment", Mukherjee added. "As an MLA, I am ashamed that this incident has taken place".

The home minister would also meet a delegation of IAS officers of the Delhi government, a ministry official said.

Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Deori Prakash Jarwal in alleged assault of Delhi chief secretary Anshu Prakash, reports said.
