Pence denounces Kabul terror attacks, reassures support to Afghanistan

Earlier, Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua, a Pakistani delegation arrived to Kabul to attend the maiden meeting of a joint working group on security cooperation.

Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States, Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry on Friday reiterated that Pakistan does not want any violence or terrorism in Afghanistan and that it has suffered from the instability across the border.

The National Security Committee, the apex civil and military leadership body, downplaying the reaction of the Afghan government wherein direct blame was put on Pakistan, termed the reaction based on misconceptions created by certain foreign elements, and once again expressed Islamabad's resolve to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with their Afghan brethren against the common enemy of humanity.

During the Saturday's meeting, Pakistan offered a joint investigation into the terrorist attacks in Kabul and urged the Afghan government to take action against anti-Pakistan terrorists stationed in Afghanistan.

This comes days after a high-level Afghan delegation visited Pakistan.

"There are still important areas to be discussed and agreed upon, and both sides remain committed to continue their discussions to reach an agreement on the APAPPS", said a joint statement released after the meeting.

Top-level civilian and military officials from Islamabad and Kabul on Saturday agreed to some points of the Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS) and chose to continue discussions to reach an agreement on the entire blueprint for bilateral engagement.

Islamabad says Saturday's meeting was part of a larger dialogue while the Afghans billed it as a response to their accusations against Islamabad.

He reiterated the toughened stance adopted against the militants in the wake of brazen attacks in Kabul, and said doors for peace were no longer open for all militants and those bent upon terrorism would be hunt down.
