Trump Defends Second Amendment At CPAC And Warns of Dems Taking Office

Donald Trump failed to mention raising the minimum age to buy assault guns during his speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) today.

CPAC, hosted by the American Conservative Union, is held annually and is a favorite gathering for conservative elected officials.

Trump questioned the inaction of an armed officer who failed to stop the gunman who carried out last week's Florida massacre. Republicans are facing a challenging election season, and the Trump administration wants to motivate conservative activists so they will give endangered Republicans another term.

Donald Trump has acknowledged that he goes to great lengths to hide a bald spot on his head - after a viral video showed the patch being revealed by the wind.

"We don't want him using these lyrics", Maggie Brown told the Chicago Tribune in 2016. "Hey, we're hanging in". He added, "most of it's just common sense. And you may love it or you may say, 'Isn't that awful.' And if you say, 'Isn't that bad, ' who cares?" He said the "evil massacre" of 17 people at the Florida high school had "broken our hearts".

Despite being open to some proposals that the gun rights lobby has opposed, Trump has enjoyed deep support from the NRA.

Opening his speech Friday, Trump touted accomplishments, despite what he said was skepticism about his conservative bona fides. "Don't worry", Trump said. Connecticut Chris Murphy, an outspoken advocate for more gun restrictions after the 2012 elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, said he expected to meet with White House aides next week.

"Oh, I try like hell to hide that bald spot, folks", he said.

Calling for more armed security in schools, Trump said, "The teacher would have shot the hell out of [the attacker] before he knew what happened".

"Well-trained, gun-adept teachers and coaches and people that work in those buildings, adept with weaponry and guns - this would be a major deterrent because these people are cowards", Trump said.

CNN's calls to Peterson on Thursday were not returned. "If they get in, they will repeal your tax cuts, they will put judges in that you wouldn't believe, they'll take away your Second Amendment, which we will never allow to happen, they'll take away your Second Amendment".

Trump also stirred up the crowd with a veiled reference to Sen. He, of course, discussed his plan to build a "great wall" along the border with Mexico while the crowd chanted,"Build that wall!"

That formerly libertarian-leaning conference's transformation toward a full embrace of Trump began a year ago, as members of Trump's team took the stage, comparing him to the movement's idol, former President Ronald Reagan. So we have the tax reform act, and that was it.
