Germany coach Joachim Low: 'Too many silly mistakes against Brazil'

Germany coach Joachim Low: 'Too many silly mistakes against Brazil'

Toni Kroos has warned that Germany "are not as good as some players think we are" following the 1-0 defeat to Brazil in Berlin on Tuesday.

Brazil laid down a marker ahead of the World Cup as they ended defending champions Germany's 22-game undefeated streak with a 1-0 friendly win at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

"It was a matter of pride, after all that has been written and said", said Brazil defender Thiago Silva. "That's why I'm overjoyed about winning against a big opponent".

Germany have played Brazil 23 times in their history, their 7-1 victory in the World Cup was somewhat anomalous as the Nationalelf had only beaten Brazil four times prior to that.

"It wasn't our day".

"We made lots of changes, you could see that". "The team missed Neymar, but we are learning to play and be strong without him".

Just as they were in that clash at the Mineirao, the Selecao were without the injured Neymar on Tuesday.

With Thomas Mueller and Mesut Ozil rested, Boateng and Toni Kroos were the only members of the Germany team which routed Brazil almost four years ago.

The hosts showed very little in terms of attacking appetite and littered the pitch with mistakes, prompting the 28-year-old Kroos, a 2014 world champion and the team's midfield dynamo, to ring alarm bells.

Germany striker Mario Gomez failed to convert a string of half-chances which came his way before Brazil scored after sustained pressure.

"So I'm not anxious just because we lost one time 1-0 against Brazil".

There was some relief for Loew after Germany captain Jerome Boateng twisted ankle ligaments and had to come off in the second half.

Gabriel Jesus' goal. A brilliant whipped ball from the right picked out the Manchester City striker in the middle of the area and, although his header was straight at Kevin Trapp, there was enough power on it that the German goalkeeper was helpless to prevent it going into the net to give Brazil a deserved lead.

The Man City forward met Willian's cross, and Trapp could only parry his header which looped over the line.

Ten minutes into the second half, Willian saw his shot blocked by Antonio Rudiger, but the rebound fell to Paulinho whose effort was then parried away by Trapp.
