Going once! Watch Blue Ivy Carter bid $19000 at art auction

The event-which took place at Los Angeles' Alexandria Ballrooms-was organised by Beyoncé's mother Tina Knowles Lawson, and her step-dad, Richard Lawson.

Don't feel bad, though: Vanity Fair reports that Blue ended up walking away with a $10,000 work by Samuel Levi Jones.

Blue Ivy initially bid $17,000 for an acrylic painting of a young Sidney Poitier. The bidding went on for a short while when the price increased Blue made another bid for $19,000.

"Perry won the painting for $20,000, Vanity Fair magazine said, adding that Blue Ivy placed the winning $10,000 bid for "Composed", described by the auction website as a 36" x36" work by Samuel Levi Jones, comprising "deconstructed law books from the state of IN and medical book from the state of California".

Bey, Jay Z and their six-year-old daughter Blue attended the Wearable Art Gala, and made sure to coordinate their looks on the red carpet. "I think the real reason I feel weird to receive this award from my mother is because I feel like I should be giving her an award tonight".

But what we're left wondering is - where will Blue put her costly new artwork?

Former First Lady Michelle Obama celebrated Bey's equity, justice, and fairness efforts in a video that played at the event.

She also gave a shout out to her mother, Tina Knowles, revealing she should be receiving an award instead, crediting her mother's example as a role model in her life. Beyonce's musical proteges, Chloe and Halle, honored the pop star as well by performing a cover of her song, "I Was Here".
