President to deliver speech at Solar Summit Sunday

Sri Lanka signed the Framework Agreement on ISA on January 31, 2018 in New Delhi.

On Sunday, Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron will co-chair the founding conference of the India-initiated ISA which was launched by Modi and then French President Francois Hollande during the Paris climate summit in 2015. Sixty countries had signed up to join the International Solar Alliance, Naidu said, adding that 30 countries had ratified the provisions of the alliance so far.

The Summit, which is being attended by 25 Heads of State and Government, will provide a dedicated platform for co-operation amongst solar resource-rich countries, aimed at realising "the common goals of increasing the use of solar energy in meeting the energy needs of ISA member countries in a safe, convenient, affordable, equitable and sustainable manner".

Heads of 23 nations and 10 ministerial representatives of different countries will attend the summit, co-hosted by India and France.

The global government organisation has got recognition from the United Nations.

Here is all you need to know about the International Solar Alliance (ISA).

Finance Ministry in a release said, the objective of the agreements is to deepen their cooperation in support of Renewable Energy.

The ISA aims to organize $1 trillion in low-priced financing for solar energy projects by 2030 in sunlight-rich but power-poor countries located around the equator. The previous three partnerships were signed by ISA with the World Bank, the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The cooperation envisages solar power generation, solar based mini-grids and transmission systems for integrating solar energy into grids.

The African Development Bank's New Deal on Energy for Africa aims to achieve universal access to energy in Africa by 2025.
