Trump had nothing to do with Korea peace talks, says North Korea

The two Koreas will hold high-level talks on Thursday to prepare for an April summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, South Korea said Saturday. A government worker in South Korea worked an average 2,738 hours a year, according to data from the Ministry of Personnel and Management quoted in Yonhap news agency in January, almost 1,000 hours more than the OECD average for public servants.

Kim Jong Un's government sent a message to its southern neighbour accepting the invitation.

Following a period of heightened tensions stoked by the North's nuclear and missile tests past year, a rapid rapprochement has been underway on the Korean peninsula.

The North's delegation will be led by Ri Son Gwon, chairman of the North's agency that deals with inter-Korean affairs. Choe attended the "1.5-track" talks with former government officials and academics from South Korea and the United States ahead of bilateral summits among the three countries.

This year's start delay was due to the Winter Olympics being held in South Korea. South Korean officials also brokered a potential meeting between Mr Kim and President Donald Trump by the end of May.

Cho and Ri met at Panmunjom on January 9 to hold the two Koreas' first formal talks in more than two years to discuss the North's participation in the PyeongChang Winter Olympics and ways to improve bilateral ties. But there had been no official word from Pyongyang.

Trump also traded threats and personal insults with Kim, calling him "little rocket man" and at one point threatening to "totally destroy North Korea" I needed to defend the United States and its allies.

"Our combined exercises are defense-oriented and there is no reason for North Korea to view them as a provocation", Pentagon unveiled, saying that Pyongyang was already informed in advance in regards of the dates and nature of the drills.

The North on Saturday accepted the South's proposal to meet at Panmunjom, the Unification Ministry statement said.

The President is expected to meet with Kim in April, the first time the North Korean leader has publicly met with a foreign head of state.
