Gmail Confidential Mode Brings Self-Destructing Emails And Identity Verification For Recipients

Gmail Confidential Mode Brings Self-Destructing Emails And Identity Verification For Recipients

There also appears to be a self-destruct button of sorts, via a customizable expiration date that allows the user to send the email into the ether after a time period of the user's choosing-whether that's a week, month, or even a few years. The feature is already available on the mobile app and helps you reply to messages with AI selected short replies.

The redesign will bring a cleaner, fresher look that adopts the Material Design guidelines Google uses for its Android and iOS apps. The default setup will showcase things like photos, documents, and other items that are attached to message, a comfortable option will remove these attachment highlights, and compact mode will show more emails on your screen at once.

G Suite administrators, who manage the online Google domain, gave some details of the design to 9to5Google.

"Weak data connectivity‚ high data costs and low RAM or storage space often make it hard for people to get the most out of the internet - Google Go is built to handle these challenges‚" the company said in a statement. It also adds a new snooze feature that lets you hide emails for a period of time, so you can reply to the email once you're ready to. Both of those features are part of Google's Inbox app for Gmail.

'We previously announced that we're moving Chrome apps, like Gmail Offline, to the web.

Google revealed yesterday that it's planning to launch a new Gmail design in the coming weeks.

G Suite customers will receive early access to the update.

Sources say that popular Chrome extensions should continue to work in the new Gmail.

"We're working on some major updates to Gmail (they're still in draft phase)", a Google spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday. "We need a bit more time to compose ourselves, so can't share anything yet-archive this for now, and we'll let you know when it's time to hit send".

Still, in the wake of data privacy scandals like Facebook's recent Cambridge Analytica incident, it's nice to see companies like Google offering their users extra privacy features.

The news comes after some outlets reported on leaks of a possible upcoming Gmail redesign.
