Napoli stun Juventus with last minute goal

Napoli stun Juventus with last minute goal

But the atmosphere would soon turn partisan in the Juventus Stadium as Napoli secured a vital 1-0 win thanks to an 89th-minute victor from defender Kalidou Koulibaly, moving them to within one point of the leaders.

Napoli dominated play but failed to create clear chances until centre-back Koulibaly powered home Jose Callejon's corner in the last minute.

The Senegalese defender's victor sees Napoli close up to within one point of Juve, with four games left in the season.

Juventus lead on 85 points with Napoli on 84 followed by AS Roma and Lazio on 67 each.

As Napoli took control, Marek Hamsik got free and turned his shot across the face of goal, Mario Rui had a cross tipped over by Buffon and Lorenzo Insigne had a goal disallowed for offside.

The legendary Italian stopper went in among the Napoli squad as they celebrated their victory wildly and congratulated every single player.

But the next appointment will be tough and head coach Maurizio Sarri said: "Tonight we will enjoy this splendid victory".

"What is certain is that winning here is always very hard and wonderful, it's a huge satisfaction, but we must also remain lucid because at the moment it remains an end to itself".

"I had always lost playing here, but I am really happy, because we put so much into it".

Napoli will play Fiorentina, Sampdoria, Torino and Crotone in the final four matches.

"We're still top of the table, we still have the advantage".

After the game, Insigne was asked in the mixed zone: "Did Juve approach the game like a Champions League Final and lose it?"

"There are still some games to go, but we want to win them all and then we'll see".

Immobile tapped in a Milinkovic-Savic assist five minutes from the end, quickly adding a second to consolidate his position as leading Serie A scorer with 29 goals this season.
