North Korea Willing to Give Up Nukes

North Korea Willing to Give Up Nukes

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un briefed top ruling party officials on his vision for the future direction of dialogue with the United States and his upcoming summit with South Korea's president, the North's official media reported Tuesday.

"We've been in touch with them and we'll be meeting some time in May or early June. and I think there'll be great respect paid by both parties", Trump told a cabinet meeting.

Several of China's top state-controlled newspapers, featuring a front page story of Chinese President Xi Jinping meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, are sold at a news kiosk in Beijing on March 28. -North Korea contact is proceeding smoothly.

The hermit state's official propaganda outlet, the Korean Central News Agency KCNA added that Kim Jong-un had set "a number of strategic and tactical issues" expected to be discussed.

While the plan of talks between the two enemies saw announced last month, Pyongyang had failed to officially confirm the talks were planning to take place until yesterday's press release.

According to the Washington Post quoted an administration official says that the US has confirmed that Kim Jong Un is willing to discuss the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.

The other part is the fact that Kim, a 34-year-old who has consistently defied low expectations over the past six years, is feeling more confident than ever.

US and North Korean intelligence officials have spoken a few times and even met in a third country, CNN reported.

Until now, the US had relied mostly on ally South Korea's assurance of Mr. Kim's intentions.

The meeting of the Political Bureau of the C.C. came two days ahead of the Sixth Session of the 13th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, slated to take place on Wednesday.

North Korea's recent surge in diplomatic activity marks a stunning turnaround after a year of heightened tensions which saw the North fire multiple missiles and carry out its most powerful nuclear test, further isolating the regime and triggering a fiery war of words with Trump.

White House officials have not said where the Trump-Kim summit will be held.
