Bannon Tried To Use Cambridge Analytica Ads To Suppress Black Vote

Cambridge Analytica on May 2 had already announced its intentions of shutting down, ceasing operation and declaring bankruptcy in the U.S. and the United Kingdom, and Cambridge Analytica's parent company SCL Group was also reported to be shutting down.

Cambridge Analytica LLC listed assets in the range of US$100,001 to US$500,000 and liabilities in the range of US$1 million to US$10 million. Since the legal proceedings in the U.S. are more transparent than those in the United Kingdom, the bankruptcy proceedings filed on Thursday would likely shed more light on the company's relationships and finances.

Cambridge Analytica announced on May 2 it will begin bankruptcy proceedings after losing clients and facing mounting legal fees because of the scandal over reports that it harvested personal data from 87 million Facebook users beginning in 2014.

Christopher Wylie, an ex-employee of Cambridge Analytica who blew the whistle on the company's misuse of Facebook, told the Senate Judiciary Committee that the company offered strategies to discourage certain segments of the population from voting.

"The siege of media coverage has driven away virtually all of the Company's customers and suppliers", the firm said. Wylie said Nix and Cambridge Analytica made presentations and sent documents to Lukoil, including a white paper about Cambridge Analytica's data collection and online targeting of Americans.

Cambridge Analytica whistleblower Christopher Wylie told Congress on Wednesday that the firm used by President TrumpDonald John TrumpGiuliani says Federal Bureau of Investigation may have placed spy in Trump campaign Giuliani: There is "nothing illegal about looking for dirt on political opponents" Giuliani: If Mueller subpoenas us, we will challenge it MORE's campaign in 2016 engaged in "voter disengagement" tactics targeting black Americans.
