Iran's FM: No Renegotiating Nuclear Deal

Iran's FM: No Renegotiating Nuclear Deal

"The nuclear deal is based on lies. But Trump's impetuousness to celebrate blew the cover", Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif posted to his Twitter account on May 1. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called Netanyahu's speech "a childish and ridiculous show,"an Iranian news agency reported". Ellen Laipson explained at the time that while the bill wouldn't derail the agreement all on its own, it pointed to broader threats to the pact's durability under Trump.

Britain, France and Germany - the three European countries that signed the deal - have repeatedly tried to persuade Trump not to abandon it.

Delegations from France, Germany, and the United Kingdom are set to arrive in Israel this week for a briefing on the intelligence obtained in Iran's nuclear documents, Israel's Prime Minister told journalists on Tuesday.

Roderich Kiesewetter, a senior lawmaker in Merkel's party, said Netanyahu's presentation included "nothing new so far" beyond information released by the IAEA in a 2015 assessment of the Iranian nuclear program.

French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday said he didn't know if U.S. President Donald Trump would stick to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal that many in the West see as the best hope of preventing Tehran from getting a nuclear bomb.

German intelligence, furthermore, revealed a year ago that Iran continued its efforts to obtain technology and know-how to advance its nuclear weapons and missile programs, and had tried to acquire materials such as special valves for its heavy water reactor in Arak since the implementation of the nuclear deal.

It is no secret Iran meant to build an arsenal of nuclear warheads. In 2017, Iran moved its nuclear weapons files to a highly secret location in Tehran.

Israel and Iran are now involved in a standoff in Syria, where Iranian troops are supporting President Bashar Assad's forces. Netanyahu provided no direct evidence that Iran has violated the 2015 deal, which it signed with the U.S., Germany, Britain, France, China and Russian Federation.

The declaration flew in the face of American intelligence determinations, which found Tehran froze its program following the Obama-era agreement to lift sanctions in exchange for curtailing its nuclear ambitions.

Trump has warned that unless European allies rectify the "terrible flaws" in the global accord by May 12, he will refuse to extend USA sanctions relief for the oil-producing Islamic Republic. The next deadline is May 12. But they do provide a ton of new information about Iranian lying, cheating and deception.

He said that the public revelation gives the Iranians chance to cover their tracks and said: "I am convinced that most of the intelligence and army personnel were against this show".

He said that after the 2015 deal with the West, Iran continued to preserve and expand its nuclear weapons know-how, asking: "Why would a terrorist regime hide and meticulously catalogue its secret nuclear files, if not to use them at a later date?" "That is why the IAEA inspection regime agreed as part of the Iran nuclear deal is one of the most extensive and robust in the history of worldwide nuclear accords".

Macron said he had pushed the idea of a much broader Iran agreement with Trump, which was received "very positively".

But he said the evidence showed Iran lied going into the deal and it could not be trusted.

He said thousands of pages of material, have been obtained by Israel which showed Iran had deceived the world by denying it had ever sought nuclear weapons. "It was for this reason the nuclear accord was signed in 2015". "All activities linked to the development of a nuclear weapon are permanently banned by the agreement".
