Kings XI choose to bowl, Tiwary replaces Yuvraj

Krunal Pandya and Rohit Sharma put on a sensational batting display to snatch a six-wicket victory for Mumbai Indians at Kings XI Punjab on Friday. Player of the Match Suryakumar Yadav made 57 runs and gave MI the flawless start in such a situation.

Kings XI's last match was a low scoring affair against Sunrisers Hyderabad as they produced a fine bowling display to hold the Sunrisers to 132 but as has happened so often during this tournament, SRH well and truly choked the Kings XI into submission and were eventually bowled out for just 119.

The opening combination of KL Rahul and Chris Gayle has sent shivers down their opposition teams thanks to their explosive partnerships, and both of them would be looking to carry on their rich vein of form in the tournament. However, things began to fall apart after Rahul went down in the seventh over.

Yuvraj (14 off 14 balls), who was promoted up the batting order, once again failed to fire as the out-of-form batsman was the next to depart in the 13th over with Punjab's scorecard reading 96/3. He played 13 balls and slammed 23 runs. The Jamaican was slow to begin with; he was two from nine balls, before exploding and adding 48 off the next 31 balls.

He hit six fours and two sixes before he was dismissed by Ben Cutting.

Having done all the hard work on a sluggish wicket, a 145 kmph ball from Jofra came as an invitation that Rahul wouldn't refuse as he brought up his third half-century for KXIP, off his 44th delivery, with an immaculate cut shot over the third-man fence. He was dismissed in the following over when he miscued a knuckle ball from Stoinis and the skier was pouched by KL Rahul. The only opener Surya Kumar Yadav is making runs for his team. Suryakumar Yadav (57) and Ishan Kishan (25) laid the foundation after an early scare that saw Evin Lewis caught behind the wicket to Mujeeb ur Rahman. The Kolkata stalwart smashed the leg-spinner for two consecutive sixes in his very first over to run salt in the wounds. "We had felt we had a good chance after 15 overs". Rohit and Krunal turned up the wick and scored boundary after boundary. Short expected the ball to come on the bat but it took the outside of the bat as Andrew Tye grabbed it at the midwicket.20:02 IST: WICKET! It started with a Mujeeb Ur Rahman delivery that Stokes looked to hit straight down the ground, the spin just took the ball away from Stokes who still looked to have gotten enough on it. Mayank Agarwal who was tracking back extended an arm and held on to the ball right at the edge of the ropes.

Bumrah was MI's stand out bowler. He eventually ended with figures of 3/27 in his four overs.
