Trump's attacks on Federal Bureau of Investigation make U.S. less safe — Comey to AP

Comey has been outspoken over his thoughts on Trump, writing in his recently released book A Higher Loyalty that he found the president was inappropriate in his interactions with the Federal Bureau of Investigation chief.

Comey said though some have correlated the president's social media messages with his book sales, he wishes Trump would stop attacking him on Twitter. "In a normal world, the American people would find that very, very hard to accept".

Comey said he would advise members of the federal government working under Trump to find strength in the values of the institutions they work for and do what is right even under political pressure.

"I'm only hesitating because we don't live in that world", he said. "A leak is if you and I have an expectation of privacy in a conversation and then I go and divulge the contents of it - that is not a legal issue". This help was much appreciated by Trump, who tweeted his admiration for Comey's "courage". "And that's insane, right?" Based on Trump's own words in interviews and tweets, Comey was sacked because he did not halt the investigation into possible collusion between Trump and the Russians.

"I$3 t is hard in nearly all investigations to imagine getting to that without some interaction with the subject", Comey told Axios. "Republicans would freak out about that".

Steve K conveniently forgot to mention that Comey, as a registered Republican, helped Trump to win the election by telling the American people that the FBI had reopened the investigation into the email saga just days before the election, while not informing the people that Trump was also under investigation! "Certainly I never see myself running for office, and I can't imagine an appointed return. Don't do disastrous things that won't make a difference". "So, don't do disastrous things at all".
