Liverpool close in on £70million deal

Liverpool close in on £70million deal

Reliable journalist Romain Collet-Gaudin has claimed on Twitter that if all things go according to plan, Nabil Fekir will be at Melwood on Sunday to have a medical.

While Liverpool's interest is obvious, the club has responded to the above rumour by denying that Fekir is set for a medical.

Even still, it appears that manager Jurgen Klopp is going for "overkill", as French global Fekir looks set for an Anfield move this transfer window, just a medical to go.

Obviously, transfer stories can be unreliable, but this reporter appears to have a good reputation.

The World Cup gets underway on June 14, and there's every chance Fekir's fee could increase if he heads to Russian Federation as a Lyon player and proceeds to dazzle the onlooking world with Les Bleus. He said via The Metro: "There'll be more business to come, and Nabil Fekir is clearly a player they want and will hope to tie up a deal before the World Cup".

Lyon playmaker Fekir has been identified as the man to fill Philippe Coutinho's boots at Anfield, with Goal revealing that a £60 million pursuit of the Frenchman has been stepped up.

So it looks like the next few days are going to be pivotal as Liverpool look to wrap-up their third big-money signing of the summer following the arrivals of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig and Fabinho from Monaco.

"There will be more and more of those top players keen on joining them".

Lyon, however, are prepared to play the long game and make as much money from the deal as they can.

Can Liverpool win the Premier League?
