In Florida, two people were attacked by sharks

Then Fernandina Beach Fire Department reported that while they were tending to one victim, another alleged shark bite incident occurred at Beach Access 31.

The 17-year-old, who was not identified as male or female, received puncture wounds to his foot, the fire department said.

The city's police department said in a statement that Dustin Theobald, 30, received several lacerations and puncture wounds to his right foot from the bite.

Fernandina Beach, Florida's northernmost municipality, is on Amelia Island on the Atlantic coast.

Beach officials closed the Nassau County beach Friday after Theobald and a 17 year old boy were bitten around the same time. "I$3 reached back to my foot and I guess grabbed its head". He said it was 4 to 5 feet long. He yelled and he went down and he was kind of hopping and he looked over at me and goes "I got bit, I got bit!"

Theobald said he never expected something like that to happen to him - "on Friday the 13th, no less".

In 2016, a total of 32 shark attacks were reported in Florida.

The attacks took place within a mile of each other on a popular Florida beach.

Double red flags were flying on the beach, which was closed to the public for the rest of the day as a precaution. Nevertheless, News 4 recorded a scattering of people wading late Friday afternoon even as a sheriff's truck rolled along the shoreline, urging them out with a loudspeaker. It was not clear whether one or two sharks were involved in the incidents.

"There's a shark in the water that has already bitten two people", he repeated as he passed a small group waist-deep in the ocean.
