Isner reaches eighth Atlanta final, will face Harrison

In the press conference at the Atlanta Open after beating the South Korean Hyeon Chung in three sets, 6-7 (3), 6-2, 7-6 (5), the American Ryan Harrison spoke about his relationship with the Australian Nick Kyrgios. He will face the victor of Friday night's match between Brit Cameron Norrie and second-seeded Australian Nick Kyrgios in the other semifinal.

The British number two is now sitting at a career-high of 73rd in the ATP World Rankings, and the left-hander has continued to impress with an extended run on his first outing since Wimbledon.

From there, Isner, who who made the Wimbledon semi-final just over a fortnight ago and also won the Miami Open in April, made the most of his chances, breaking his compatriot in the third and serving out to love to seal the match in just under two hours.

They also met past year in the Hall of Fame Open final, with Isner winning in straight sets.

At times Kyrgios seemed disinterested in the contest, with his effort in question late in the opening set before he meekly double-faulted to give Norrie the early break in the second.

Isner improved to 31-4 in the event - winning three straight titles in Atlanta from 2013-15 and losing the 2016 final to Australian Nick Kyrgios.

Isner, 33, became the fifth American man to win the same tournament at least five times after Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi.

"I've played both those guys before. I was struggling a little bit", Isner said of his previous match against Ebden. Ebden beat Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus 6-3, 6-2. It helps a lot. "We'll see if I can turn the tide".

Norrie, 22, had looked to be heading for his first ATP final after taking the first set before the eighth seed fought back to win 2-6 6-3 6-2.

Top seed Dominic Thiem's bid for a third claycourt title of the season came to a halt after he suffered a shock 7-6 (5), 7-6 (7) defeat by Chilean power-hitter Nicolas Jarry.
