Lebron To Go Public With Decision On Tuesday

Lebron To Go Public With Decision On Tuesday

With the ability to sign two maximum-contract players, the Lakers can build a "Super Team" with James if they are able to also land George or work out a trade with San Antonio for Kawhi Leonard. He could be in Southern California longer than usual.

Clearly, Cleveland did a horrendous job at building the necessary weapons around their beloved superstar to give them a better chance of winning the championship, and as a result, James appears to be exploring his best options.

LeBron James was spotted flying a private plane into Los Angeles on Saturday, according to an ESPN SportsCenter report, but Lakers fans shouldn't get their hopes up about their team reeling in the NBA's most coveted free agent just yet.

The three-time champion is now the most coveted prize in an National Basketball Association free-agent class that includes All-Stars Paul George and Chris Paul.

Marks has the pool of teams in the running down to three: the Lakers, the Sixers and the Cavaliers. James has not publicly commented on what team he will sign with as his family and close advisers consider offers at his "decision cave" in the Caribbean.

The most likely destinations are the LA Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, and possibly, back to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

According to a New York Times report, the Dallas Mavericks will make Jordan their top target in free agency after previously discussing various opt-in-and-trade scenarios with the Clippers. The Cavaliers could go over the salary cap to re-sign James because they own his "Bird rights", named for Celtics legend Larry Bird, but any other team he signs with would have to create enough space to sign him under the cap. If he stays with Cleveland he's due to make more than the $35.6 million in the first year of a new deal 2018-2019. While there had been dialogue between Paul and Altman since the season ended, James had not given the team any sense of his plans.

George's move has given James more to process, but the chance to restore Los Angeles to prominence may be just what he needs at this point in his career. Cleveland has deep salary-cap issues - partially caused by James' failure to commit long-term - and the Cavs now lack enough talent to unseat the champion Golden State Warriors.

James is a 14-time All-Star, a 14-time All-NBA selection, six-time All-Defense selection, a four-time MVP and three-time champion.

He's coming off another fabulous season that saw him average 34 points, 9.1 rebounds and nine assists on 53.9 per cent shooting, but also a second straight defeat to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals - and the third in four years.
