Target Field dumps disgraced pizza vendor Papa John's

Schnatter resigned late Wednesday and apologized for using the slur, the company said.

Papa John's plans to pull founder John Schnatter's image from marketing materials following reports he used a racial slur. Instead, further waded further into controversy after it was revealed that, during the call, he claimed "Colonel Sanders called blacks n--s" but didn't face the same backlash that he had. Of that total, $14 million came from Schnatter personally and the remaining through Papa John's global on a deal that runs through 2040.

Schnatter owns almost 30 percent of the company's shares, which fell after the report but rebounded when he said he would depart as chairman.

Target Field has announced it will "indefinitely suspend" the sale of Papa John's pizza following comments made by the company's former CEO, according to a Minnesota Twins spokesperson. Papa John's is now scrubbing Schnatter's image from its packaging and marketing materials.

The Astros, a well-run organization that is the defending World Series champion, also included a statement from Houston Pizza Venture president Keith Sullins: "I want everyone in the city of Houston to know that Mr. Schnatter's statements are indefensible and in no way represent the views of anyone in our company", which, just given math and sample sizes, can not possibly be true, but at least reads well. Regardless of the context, I apologize.

"Papa John's is not an individual".

McConnell says he isn't aware of the contractual agreements on the stadium naming but expressed confidence that new university president Neeli Bendapudi would handle it "very well". He had stepped down as CEO previous year after blaming disappointing pizza delivery sales on the outcry surrounding football players kneeling during the national anthem.

Bendapudi also explained she spoke with Schnatter, who supported the decision to remove the name so it won't be a distraction to the program, according to 93.9 The Ville. Several people told Friedland how inappropriate and hurtful his use of the word was.

Schnatter, who served as Papa John's CEO until January, has been prominently featured in the chain's television commercials and print advertisements for years. As of 1:05 p.m. Friday, Papa John's shares are $54.31, up more than 1 percent since the start of the day. For the first three months of this year, the chain said a key sales figure fell 5.3 per cent in North America.

Papa John's isn't the only pizza option at Target Field.
