Kyle Lafferty: I will repay Rangers for my Ibrox second chance

Kyle Lafferty: I will repay Rangers for my Ibrox second chance

The 30-year-old has played for Sion, Palermo and Norwich since leaving Ibrox and scored 19 goals last season for Hearts, where he enjoyed his time on and off the park after crediting the club with helping him fight a gambling problem.

The deal should allow manager Craig Levein to strengthen Hearts' squad further before the transfer window closes.

Hearts rejected an initial reported £200,000 ($260,000) bid for Lafferty from Rangers in July, but chairwoman Ann Budge admitted the player's desire to move proved decisive in reaching a deal.

Speaking exclusively to RangersTV he said: "I have supported the club since I was a kid and I have played here before but the way I left I was disappointed". Not really. I went to Hearts last season and had a good season and now I have been given a second chance, which I am lucky to have.

"I think he ticks all the boxes that I want as a front man".

He could make his debut for them in the Europa League qualifier against Ufa on Thursday, as clubs are allowed two wildcard additions to their squad before the game.

He was quoted as saying by STV: "Everybody has got a price and I felt the price we got for Kyle was good". I love that in a footballer.

"Every game we have been attacking and have done well going forward but against Maribor away it was more back to the walls and they have come out of it with the result they needed - that was pretty impressive."

He had spent four years at Ibrox, hitting 38 goals and lifting three league titles, and did not disguise his delight at being back in light blue. "We know we are quite bare up there without him". "I am happy to be home", Lafferty added.

'He's coming to terms with it now but at the beginning he was upset, as you can understand.
