Trump Pats Himself On The Back For Yanking Brennan's Security Clearance

Trump Pats Himself On The Back For Yanking Brennan's Security Clearance

Trump has slammed Ohr as a source for Mueller in his probe into Russian election meddling.

I think Bruce Ohr is a disgrace.

Ohr works in the Justice Department's criminal division. That is disqualifying for Mueller.

"Mr. Mueller is highly conflicted". Rosenstein appointed the special counsel and oversees his work.

He had high hopes for Trump as president, he writes, but he has been let down.

About a dozen top former intelligence officials are speaking out after the White House revoked the security clearance of former CIA Director John Brennan, a vocal critic of President Trump.

The letter alleges that Trump's revoking of Brennan's clearance "has nothing to do with who should and should not hold security clearances - and everything to do with an attempt to stifle free speech".

Brennan recently described Trump's actions at a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki last month as treasonous.

Trump called Ohr a "disgrace" outside the White House and said, "I suspect I will be taking it away very quickly".

"There's no silence. If anything, I'm giving them a bigger voice. He is a man of unparalleled integrity, whose honesty and character have never been in question, except by those who don't know him", McRaven wrote.

Sen. Richard Burr said Thursday that Brennan is purporting to know - as fact - that the Trump campaign colluded with a foreign power.

According to reports Thursday, Bruce Ohr stands to lose his job at the department if the president revokes his security clearance.

The signees included seven former CIA directors, six former CIA deputy directors and two former national intelligence directors, James Clapper and retired Navy Admiral Denny Blair. "That signal is inappropriate and deeply regrettable".

In a statement released late on Thursday, officials who served under Republican and Democratic officials said they did not necessarily agree with Brennan's harsh criticism of the president but that security authorizations should be based on national security, not politics.

The White House announced Thursday that it was revoking the former Central Intelligence Agency director's clearance because of what press secretary Sarah Sanders called "unfounded and outrageous allegations". "You're trusted with that information", Webb said of officials keeping their clearances. Trump says he is reviewing security clearances for nine other individuals, including the eight pictured. No, remember you keep those security clearances as a professional courtesy or to keep an unbroken line for the next successor administration if you can be helpful with respect to national security.

In an interview with NPR's All Things Considered, Hayden said the decision was purely political, and that the White House had revoked Brennan's clearance "as a punitive measure because the president did not like what John was saying about him". "He has the authority to do that".
