Will fibre optics eventually close down BT

Tiscali, Virgin Media, and a few other broadband providers are carving up the United Kingdom feudal networks of recently installed fibre optic cable. With fiber optic cable able to carry 10,000 times more information than now obsolete copper cable a match race has ensued to bury cable and sign up broadband customers.

In 2005 BT proposed and promised a massive campaign to build their own fibre optic network. During the course of that promising campaign BT signed up one million new subscribers.

Yet well over 95% of all BT cable remains as the original copper telephone lines. In keeping with their steadfast decision towards obsolescence, BT now offers their special broadband accelerator package, which will increase your home download speed by 6%.

Unfortunately 6% of slow is still pretty slow. The only means available in the United Kingdom to receive fast low price broadband connectivity is to one of the companies offering fibre optic broadband.
